From the Desk of the CEO

Dwayne Fosseen, CEO

May 8, 2009

Mirenco’s products and services have been sold throughout the United States in many industrial markets. As the technology has spread and more people have come to realize it’s value, some common misconceptions continue to live on. I would like to clarify the key components of our technology in the order: measure engine combustion efficiency, repair any engine related combustion problems, and then adjust the fuel injection to match the engines real-time ability to burn fuel. After many successful applications of Mirenco technology on customer fleets, a common misconception is that the Mirenco C-Max and D-Max products are the answer to all their engine performance related problems. Although C-Max and D-Max products have been proven successful at saving fuel, they are not the “silver bullet” that some may want to believe.

To successfully reduce emissions and improve fuel economy an engine must go through three steps. The first step involves evaluating the engines combustion condition using the Mirenco Diesel Evaluation Procedure or MDEP. This evaluation process gives the service provider the necessary recommendations to make the correct repairs, adjustments or installations needed for that engine. The often unseen or ignored second step of the Mirenco engine combustion health program is repairing and tuning the engine components that are out of factory recommended specifications. Installing a C-Max or D-Max without first repairing and tuning an engine would only hide underlying problems and would not allow the engine to realize its maximum efficiency.  It is only when all three steps are performed together that an engine is capable of operating as efficiently as possible. In many cases the customer is unaware or disregards these key steps that take place prior to C-Max or D-Max installation but instead only see the C-Max or D-Max unit and relate this product to the end results.

In the 05/08/2009  MDEP Highlights, a good example of this can be seen. This example in the MDEP Highlights is the result of an engine evaluation and professional engine repair service followed up with tuning the fuel injection for maximum fuel savings and extended engine life. Reaching maximum fuel efficiency without performing engine combustion evaluations would be as likely as making a hole in one on the golf course.
