Mirenco Presents at Pupil Transportation Conference

RADCLIFFE, IA—November 1, 2002—Mirenco, Inc. (OTCBB: MREO) representatives will travel to North Carolina next week to present, “BEEP: Do it the IA-way” at a national transportation conference. BEEP is Iowa’s new Bus Emissions Education Program, a public-private partnership that offers Iowa schools emission testing and education about the environmental impact of school bus emissions.

Mirenco staff will make two, 50-minute presentations at the National Association of Pupil Transportation (NAPT) conference, Nov. 3-7, in Greensboro, N.C. The conference addresses transportation initiatives for school transportation administrators, diesel engine manufacturers, and Environmental Protection Agency officials. The presentations will highlight the success of Iowa’s BEEP program, the benefits of understanding tailpipe emissions, and application to other fleets.

BEEP, a not-for-profit organization, strives to clean the air from diesel school buses to provide a brighter future for Iowa schoolchildren. Through BEEP, Iowa’s 4,500 diesel school buses are tested twice a year for tailpipe emissions. It is the first voluntary emission testing program in the nation and is provided at no cost to Iowa schools.

Armed with knowledge from the emissions testing performed by Mirenco, schools have reduced the level of emissions from diesel buses and have a better understanding of combustion management. Schools use the test results to support preventive maintenance programs and preserve transportation budgets by improving fuel efficiency and engine durability.

Dwayne Fosseen, Chairman and CEO of Mirenco, said the company’s participation in the national conference offers a great opportunity to educate other states about BEEP. “BEEP provides the largest collection of emissions data available in the country to transportation leaders, engine manufacturers, and EPA representatives.” Fosseen said. “In time, we believe BEEP will serve as a model for the rest of the nation’s nearly 500,000 diesel school buses.”
